Nutrition Program

Our Albany Nutrition Program helps women achieve their nutritional goals through:

  • Weight gain or loss to optimize fertility
  • PCOS management through diet and lifestyle change
  • Management of digestive problems and chronic health problems
  • Eating disorder management

  • Nutrition and fertility are intimately linked. What you eat impacts your hormones, and your hormones rule your reproductive health.
  • Losing weight is not always the answer to successful pregnancy – being underweight can cause ovulatory problems, increased risk of miscarriage, and lower estrogen levels
  • Obesity can cause ovulatory issues, and diminished response to fertility drugs
  • Obese women are at higher risk for miscarriage, gestational diabetes, hypertension, preeclampsia, or toxemia
  • PCOS is linked with insulin resistance, which causes hormonal imbalance in the ovaries
  • Hormonal imbalances interrupt ovulation cycle regularity
  • Excess abdominal fat can increase androgen hormone production, which affects ovulation and conception
  • Excess body fat can trigger imbalance between the hypothalamus and the pituitary hormones in the brain, which help regulate ovulation
  • Obesity and PCOS cause high insulin levels, which can impact the sex hormones to interfere with ovulation

To achieve your health-related goals, Hillary will develop a customized plan based on a comprehensive review of your diet and lifestyle history. Through nutritional counseling, Hillary helps patients address health concerns including:

  • Dietary and lifestyle (i.e. exercise) guidelines from Hillary, who will guide you every step of the way
