Recurrent Miscarriages

A woman is considered to suffer from recurrent pregnancy loss or recurrent spontaneous miscarriage (RSM) if she has had three or more consecutive spontaneous miscarriages. Since many patients delay family building until their 30s when ovarian function begins declining rapidly, we often conduct modified workups after two consecutive losses.

Evaluation consists of a series of tests. The cause (s) of recurrent loss will be revealed in approximately 60% of cases. Therapies are available whether a definitive cause is identified or not.
