1. Fertility Nurse Coordinator

Job Summary:

Responsible for all duties associated with coordinating In Vitro Fertilization and Ovulation Induction Cycles, includes patient education, clinic evaluation, and telephone triage. Must be able to identify patient’s ability to understand directions and identify areas requiring additional teaching. Functions independently with intrauterine inseminations.   


Primary Duties:
The following duties represent the scope of practice required of a fertility nurse coordinator.

  • Maintains electronic medical record to quality documentation standards.
  • Able to follow patient care models based on practice policies and protocols.
  • Identifies the need for further clinical guidelines and is able to work collaboratively to develop a higher standard of care. 
  • Functions as a member of the Albany IVF Fertility team.
  • Able to serve as a role model for other staff and demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Acts as a preceptor for new staff.
  • Independently performs IUI’s and manages clinic responsibilities. 
  • Provides thorough assessment and management of the fertility patient. On-call emergency beeper support and weekend coverage on rotating schedule.
  • Excellent phlebotomy and injection administration skills.
  • Proficiency with IV skills and able to independently administer conscious sedation according to protocol. Able to assess and monitor the patient receiving anesthesia.
  • Demonstrates superior communication and organizational abilities.
  • Performs additional duties and tasks as requested by physician, and clinical manager.
  • Participation in practice committee of choice, health fairs, identified teaching days (2 per calendar year) and designated team day functions (2 per calendar day year).

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current NYS RN license.
  • CPR Certification.
  • ACLS Certification.
  • 2 years experience in OB or GYN environment.
  • Prior experience in fertility nursing preferred not essential.
