Prochieve™ or Crinone™ Vaginal Cream

Prochieve™ and Crinone™ are progesterone vaginal creams prescribed for luteal support. They are used to stabilize the endometrium after ovulation.


Directions for use:

  1. First, remove the applicator from the sealed wrapper. Holding the applicator at the thick end, shake it down several times, just as you would a thermometer.
  2. Holding the applicator at the flat section of the thick end, twist off and discard the tab at the thin end.
  3. While in a sitting position, or lying on your back with knees bent, gently insert the thin end of the applicator well into the vagina like you would a tampon.
  4. Once in place, firmly squeeze the "bubble" at the thick end of the applicator to dispense the gel into the vagina.

Key Points To Remember:

  1. Prochieve begins 2 days after you IUI at bedtime.
  2. Expect a thick brown tinged vaginal discharge you may want to use a panty liner for this reason.
  3. Contact a member of the nursing staff if you experience vaginal irritation while using this medication.
  4. You will continue this medication until you have a negative pregnancy test or you begin your period. If you are pregnant you will be instructed to remain on this medication for several weeks.
