Some women are unable to achieve pregnancy using their own eggs. With an egg donation cycle, one woman (the donor) provides eggs to another (the recipient) for in vitro fertilization (IVF). In IVF, the donors ovaries are stimulated with fertility medications. While this is going on, the recipient is taking hormones to prepare her uterus for embryo transfer. This occurs a few days after the eggs are retrieved and inseminated with the recipient partners sperm.
There are cycle requirements for both the donor and recipient couple which must be completed before the onset of the donor egg cycle. Donors must complete rigorous screening successfully before they are accepted into the Albany IVF donor egg program. Once chosen for a cycle, additional medical screening is performed. The recipient couple also needs to complete medical screening and obtain financial clearance from our billing department. Additionally, both parties are required to meet with a practitioner to sign consents prior to cycling.
